    Did you know 1 in 4 adults falls each year? The good news is, many falls can be prevented! Staying active helps build strength, improve balance, and reduce fall risk. Council on Aging’s SLIP Program helps older adults identify potential fall risks and take steps toward creating a safer home environment.

  • Free Food Distribution – no eligibility requirements

    There are no requirements to attend this event, however, it will be first-come; first-served and while supplies last. Each family will receive non-perishable pantry staples, fresh produce, and frozen meat. Should you have any questions, please contact 704-620-6391.

    The search for the SEED20 Class of 2027 starts now!Applications are officially open for the SEED20 Class of 2027. We are looking for bold ideas, passionate leaders and innovative nonprofit approaches to the social challenges facing the greater Charlotte region.Whether you are launching a new nonprofit, building a rising organization or introducing a new initiative within an established nonprofit, SEED20 can help strengthen your story, expand your reach and connect your work with a community ready to support it.Ten nonprofit leaders will be selected for a yearlong journey that includes coaching, training, increased visibility, connections to funders and community partners, professional marketing support, and capacity-building support as a member of the SEED20 Alumni Network. The experience is highlighted at SEED20 OnStage, where participants share their work with the greater Charlotte community and compete for awards.Applications are open September 1–21, 2026, and must be submitted by 3:00 p.m. ET on September 21.

    Few Eligibility Requirements to Keep in Mind:There are no restrictions based on size, budget, or age of the initiative, and there is no cost to participate in the program.Nonprofits do not have to have 501(c)(3) status to participate in the SEED20 program. However, if you do not have your 501(c)(3) status yet, you must have a fiscal sponsor or 501(c)(3) status by January 31,2027 to receive online donations from the community. To receive SEED20 prizes you must have your 501(c)(3) status by December 31, 2027.For SEED20 alums interested in applying to participate again, the following requirements must be metMust have new initiativeMust have been at least 5 years since the nonprofit last participatedMust have a different person participating in the SEED20 programNonprofits may participate if they are nonpartisan, and do not proselytize on stage or restrict services to those of a specific faith.Nonprofits must provide services in at least one of the following counties in the Greater Charlotte areaNorth Carolina: Cabarrus, Catawba, Gaston, Iredell, Lincoln, Mecklenburg, UnionSouth Carolina: Lancaster, York
